A happy start to 2008. Sheila and John were celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary and Alison, one of our Committee Members had become engaged over the Christmas period.

Various cups won by members in 2007 had now all been engraved and were presented to them.

Scrabble had to be played by 11th February. Group Round 3rd March and County Final 19th April at Wilton Lodge, Taunton. All good wishes to those taking part.

Group Meeting is on 29th March at 2.30pm at St Andrews Church Hall, Burnham when Mr Dando will tell us all about the Magic of Carnival. We have our seats booked to see Secret Garden at Weston Playhouse on March 27th, an outing we all look forward to.

Our January speaker was one of our members who spoke about Past and Present. A long standing interest in history had developed into local history through postcards, photos, books, things seen when out with a walking group, articles in the Mercury and more recently with the Lympsham Archaeological Group, better known as Old Lags.

You will no doubt have seen the LAGs around the village over the past year exploring the past, right here in the present, on our own doorstop. History is all around us.

Next meeting, February 19th, when Brian Ducker will tell us about My Life in Prison (as an Officer).
