Lympsham Tennis Club has two floodlit
courts adjoining Lympsham Sports Club and Cr icket field.
We have approximately fifty members who play social and/or
competitive tennis. Membership of the Tennis Club includes
membership of the Sports Club: a facility often admired by
visiting teams. The Tennis Club is also affiliated to the
Lawn Tennis Association.
We play in the North Somerset Leagues and, despite being a
small village Club, our teams are spread across the various
divisions. This summer our Ladies’ teams are in divisions
5 and 6. For the first time in the Club’s history we are ‘fielding’
a third Men’s team: the ‘A’ team is in division 3, the ‘B’
team has been promoted into division 7 and, of course, the
‘C’ team will start in division 10. For the Winter League
of 2006/7 our ‘A’ team is entering the dizzy heights of division
2; the ‘B’ team will return to division 6, but the ‘C’ team
has been promoted to division 7. Not bad for a small club!
At present the courts are used on Monday evenings for Men‘s
League or match practice, Tuesday evenings for Ladies’ League
or match practice and Friday evening is for ’Club Play’. Junior
coaching sessions are arranged during the year. We are looking
forward to purchasing a ball machine for practice sessions.
For the first time Lympsham Tennis Club is receiving sponsorship
